Job Role:

The Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting the Accounting function within the Finance department by assisting in the completion of monthly closure tasks, maintaining synergies between different business activities, and ensuring adherence to all deadlines. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from accounting entries and reconciliation to reporting and process improvements. 

Responsibilities:

  • Execute and review accounting entries with precision and diligence, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive reconciliation of financial data to maintain integrity and alignment across various accounts and systems.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to analyze and optimize synergies between different business activities, fostering cohesion and efficiency within the Finance department.
  • Facilitate the monthly closure process by orchestrating timely and seamless tasks, thereby enabling accurate financial reporting and decision-making.
  • Generate insightful reports and analyses to provide stakeholders with actionable insights into financial performance and trends.
  • Actively contribute to process improvements initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Engage in proactive monitoring and management of financial risks, including foreign currency exposure and compliance matters.
  • Support the preparation of Management accounts, offering valuable insights to inform strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial data and analysis as required, fostering a culture of transparency and collaboration.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation and records to support audit readiness and facilitate internal and external audits.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices to continuously enhance accounting processes and procedures.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource within the Finance department, providing guidance and support to colleagues as needed.
  • Uphold strict adherence to deadlines, demonstrating a commitment to timeliness and reliability in all aspects of work.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, showcasing expertise in financial reporting, analysis, and reconciliation. Bonus points for insurance industry experience and exposure to IFRS 17!
  • Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems; excel in Microsoft Excel and other relevant tools.
  • Strong analytical skills paired with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership potential, with the ability to mentor and support junior team members.
